What is a breast reduction?

A breast reduction is a very straight forward procedure carried out to reduce the site of the breasts of a patient. Quite often women feel that their breasts are too large or too heavy, that they cannot carry out exercise and complain of pains in the back and neck as well as an indentation in the shoulder where the bra straps cut in because breasts are so heavy.

Heavy breasts are often droopy breasts, so as part of a breast reduction procedure, they are uplifted, repositioning the nipple and areola to a higher position, whilst also reshaping the breasts to give a much more curvaceous and youthful appearance.

Who would be suitable for breast reduction?

Women choose to have their breasts reduced for a number of different reasons. Any one or more of the following reasons may indicate that you are a good candidate for breast reduction

1. You feel your breasts are too large
2. Clothes fit well around your hips but are often too small around the breasts
3. Your breasts have become larger and have lost their firmness
4. Weight gain has changed the size and shape of your breasts
5. One of your breasts is noticeably larger than the other

Breast reduction yields some of the highest patient satisfaction scores. A common theme is that most women who have it done wish they had had it performed decades earlier. This may be because of increased comfort or reduction in unwanted attention.
