Miradry is our newest non-surgical sweat reduction and non-invasive hyperhidrosis treatment
The miraDry procedure is a safe, clinically proven, long lasting FDA-cleared solution for reducing excessive underarm sweating. The procedure is fast, non-invasive, and performed in Medical clinics.
Two procedures are usually recommended, three months apart. This maximises the quality and duration of results. Each appointment generally lasts about one to two hours.
miraDry is the only FDA-cleared procedure that provides a lasting reduction of underarm sweat in a completely non-invasive way. Other treatment options such as Botox injections, aim to temporarily disable the sweat glands for varying lengths of time, repeat treatments will always be needed.
Other options involve surgery, which is an effective yet more invasive approach which may not appeal to many individuals.
The miraDry system delivers precisely controlled electromagnetic energy to the region where the underarm sweat glands reside, which heats the sweat glands and eliminates them for good.
miraDry is FDA approved and has been performed safely and successfully on thousands of patients.
All patients that are interested in having miraDry require an initial Consultation with our miraDry Nurse Specialist. Patients will receive a thorough and in depth Consultation, the risks and benefits of the treatment will be discussed comprehensively. Patients can also have a Consultation with Mr Simon Lee (Consultant Plastic Surgeon), there is a Consultation fee to see Mr Simon Lee. Following an initial Consultation the procedure can be booked.
We advise arriving for the treatment in comfortable, loose clothing. The treatment is customised for each underarm, based on where your sweat glands reside. The underarms are numbed prior to the procedure for comfort, this significantly reduces pain/discomfort. The occasional hot spot may be experienced but this is usually only for a few seconds and is self-limiting.
The miraDry handpiece is held up to the underarms, which delivers energy to the sweat glands.
The procedure usually takes about one to two hours.
Patients can expect minimal to no downtime after the procedure. A mild non-prescription pain medication and the use of ice packs for a few days is recommended. Patients should be able to return to normal activities or work right after the procedure, and you can usually resume exercise within a few days.
Localised redness, tenderness and swelling is normal. This usually clears within a few weeks. Some patients experience temporary altered sensation in their underarm or upper arm skin, which gradually disappears. During the initial consultation, we will talk with you about any potential side effects.
Depending on the severity of sweat and odour production that is experienced by the individual some patients may require a second treatment to attain maximal reduction of sweat and odour.
Most patients report a dramatic, lasting reduction of their underarm sweat. In a recent clinical study, the average underarm sweat reduction was 82%. As with any medical procedure, results and experiences can vary from patient to patient.
The results are long lasting as new sweat glands cannot be produced.
